Danube River cruise alternate shore excursion recommends

Hello,

To anyone who has taken this 8 day cruise (Regensburg - Budapest), looking for advice and suggestions to check out in - Regensburg, Passau, Vienna , Budapest

The arranged shore excursions are quite expensive, some are sold out and most do not interest me. Looking for other options, if anyone has recommendations.

Hello, we are traveling the Danube Passau to Budapest and also wondering about planning an excursion to Salzburg from Linz by train. Certainly less costly than excursion offered by Vkg. Not sure what time we would need to return to the Viking at end of day.
 
Hello, we are also traveling the Danube Passau to Budapest. Wondering if it's worth it to book the Vienna evening wine and dinner outing with Viking. I'm sorry but I am not aware of an excursion to Salzburg from Linz by train. Give Viking a call. They can provide you with the time the ship leaves.
